Hey, I currently have an 02 A4 1.9 TDI (100k + miles) early last year the car started leaking oil. After some searching the garage discovered a hairline crack in the block and manager to use a filler to seal it ( it couldnt be welded). I got roughly 9 months of driving no probs. It has started leaking again and i need to get it seen again. The car also has a fault with the ABS and ESP showing intermittedidly and badly needs a service.

Im wondering does anybody have a recomendation for a West Dublin mechainc who can do the above but also provide a substitute car as i need one for work. I dont want a main dealer or anybody who charges a fortune as there is a lot of laobor involves.

    Thanks a mil.

I got my A4 done in SDP Motors in Arbour Hill last week. I'd recommend them. As for a loan car, just hire or borrow one elsewhere. I wouldn't choose a garage on the basis of them having loan cars, you're paying for it somehow.

A crack in the block? Seems a little unlikely.

Do you have any pictures of where the leak is?

Cool ill give them a call tomorrow.

Yep its a crack in the block, they initally thought it was the cambelt cover last time but stripped the car and found a hairline crack in the engine. At the time they advised if the filler didnt work it was probobly a write off, due to the cost involved in chainging the engine. Im trying to avoid this as i dont want to buy a new car at the mo.

Ufortunatly i dont have pics as you need to strip a lot of the engine for the spot its in to be visable.

So u got it done once already now u need to do it again.my advice is get a secind hand engine.for the price u payed first time and what your gona pay again you would well and truly have a second hand engine.but seriously I don't no about the crack in the block.i doubt any decent mechanic would recommend doing that again and trying to stand over it.do yourself a favor source a second hand engine
