Changing Gear when cornering and slowing down.

    Hi,
I want to know if what I am doing when cornering is allowed during the driving test. I find it very difficult in my car dropping gears when about to corner, my car kind of jolts when I change from 3rd to 2nd some of the time. I generally just go around the corner in 3rd, the car does it fine and provides decent acceleration when needed, but I don't know if that's okay to do.

I also have a problem when coming to a near complete stop. I change my gear very slowly and also wondering is this allowed?

I would press the break slowly then press the clutch while still breaking and slowly move into neutral while still breaking and then into second slowly while still breaking. Its all done continually, there is no pause between any of the moves, just done very slowly. Is this okay?

    Thanks

Your car, "kind of jolts" when going from 3rd to 2nd for either or both of the following:

You haven't slowed the car down enough on the approach before going into 2nd and/or you are releasing the clutch far too fast.

In general most corners should be attempted in 2nd gear.

As for the remaining part of your post it sounds as though you have the principle correct but it's impossible to tell over the net if you are doing it totally right. Your instructor is best placed to advise you in real time.

I can't add to that! Some fine tuning required:eek:
