Suit bag as carry on luggage with Aer Lingus

Hi all, Heading to London with Aer Lingus next weekend and am wondering if i can use a suit bag as carry on luggage as we can put clothes in it we don't want all folded up in a normal bag !

I've never had any problems travelling with one on Aer Lingus before. It didn't count toward my carry on luggage either.
