Looking for some experienced opinions, i.e user ratings on some of the bino's you use,Have my mind nearly made up on the Leica Geovid BRF-Y 8X56.
Costly outlay so anyone with differing views ,opinions with other makes, brands would be very helpful. Thanks in advance

Take a look through Opticron (iMagic BGA SE) 8x42 IF you get the opportunity.

I have the leica geovid 8x42 and really like them.
I never seen the 8x56 model but I would worry about them being a bit heavy and bulky if doing a lot of walking.

Had a look on the Optricon website in Uk reviews are quite inpressive, might try them as season nearly over for the Deer as a stopgap. The Leica 8x56 isn't much difference in the weight from 8x42 with the built in Range Finder,Objective lens for imagery in low light is in my opinion second to none. The range finder built in is what is really attracting me to the Leica ,less gadgets to remember & lose in the field. Thanks for the tip on the Optricon Johngalway,& Zeissman for the input.

Kaps Optik 8x42. Have a set, briliant construction. Small, lightweight, really handy focus controls and very reasonably priced. ejg on here imported them from Germany for me. Forget what I paid but it was shockingly cheap for the quality of glass that's in them.

id agree with ziessman on the weight issue, but if you are aiming on buying that brand of bino, you'll have a top notch set for life

2 of my friends have Leica binos and they are top notch, but they both agree that my cousin's swaroski's are better in dusk and dawn.

    8x56 I find are very heavy, i'd personally go for 8x50 :)

I have Zeiss 8x45 RF and love them. Leica geovids are not as bulky and a bit lighter, great glasses too. If I was changing I'd go for the new Swarovski EL Range. Was shooting with a guy who just got them and I was very impressed by them, fantastic clarity and lovely feel to them.

European optics usually cost more in the states so you should price them here and in the EU before buying.
You could also get caught for 23% vat on return.

I had the pleasure of using Swaro 7x42's on a stalk and they were excellent.
If it were me I would rather have built in RF- that would be the dream if funds ever allow...

Have used the Zeiss RF ones plenty. They're great, but don't seem as clear as those without the RF, and they're very heavy. Personally I'd rather light binoculars and a compact RF in a jacket pocket to hand.

The European Optics always cost more anywhere ,the exchange rate normally negates the difference plus you get far more bang for your buck 'excuse the pun'.Very recently I bought online a Swarovski Z5 BT 5-25X56 absolutely stunning optics from Canada ,delivered for €1093 ,Brand new.Tried everywhere else in EU cheapest quote around €1500 if I remember correctly now that is some difference. The weight issue with the bino's isn't a problem as will be getting rid of the Range Finder as soon as I get Bino's.Thanks for the input all more or less sold on the Leica, safe shooting all.
