Multimedia Hard Drive repairs??

    Hi,
Ive got a MMHD which has my whole life on it. I hook it up to my laptop and nothing happens, the blue light for power goes on, but usually i hear it 'booting up', now it does absolutely nothing and obviously my laptop (tried it in a couple of different laptops) doesnt detect it.
Anyway my question is can anyone recommend a place in Dublin that would have a look at it and repair it, but not too expensive? Im hoping I still have the option of taking the hard drive out and getting all the info off it, but I would prefer to try and get it repaired and be able to hook it back up to my tv etc.

    Any recommendations appreciated.

Get this idea of 'repair' out of your head. Hard drives are the computer component most likely to fail and need to be replaced once they do. What you're looking for is someone to recover all your data (if you're lucky) and then you can put it on a new hard drive. In future if a hard drive has 'your whole life on it' make sure the important stuff is backed up somewhere else as it will fail.

if you want to repair it yourself, you could just open up the enclosure, take out the hard drive and then just buy a new hard drive enclosure and slot it in. It takes only 5 minutes to do. Here's a link to enclosures: memoryc.ie

It could be that, or it could be just a broken enclosure, it's worth the try at least to buy a new enclosure. They're cheap enough to try before spending big money on getting the data professionally recovered.
