Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Will a HD PVR run with a laptop?

Younger brother is thinking of getting one but all he has is a laptop.

For some reason I can remember reading somewhere that the HD PVR won't work with laptops. Presumable because it needs so much power to run.

    Can anyone confirm/deny?

False alarm, got my answer from the support section of the site!
Do I need a PC to use HD PVR?
Yes, a PC or laptop is required to use HD PVR. The PC is used to both run the HD PVR application plus is the place where HD PVR recordings are stored.
HD PVR does not have any internal disk storage.
HD PVR connects to a PC or laptop computer through a USB 2.0 port.
The HD PVR recordings are stored on the PC's disk drive.

A little caveat- sometimes people have trouble with some of the USB ports on a laptop with a PVR, but you'll find the best one (closest one to the power source, I believe) and it should work fine.

I don't see how it wouldn't run on a laptop... just plug it in when you're recording

It's a power thing, apparently. I don't know, it all worked fine for me.

Power was the main thing I was worried about.

Here's a video I made of my HD PVR working on my laptop. Albeit in a 'unique' situation. :)
