Hi there, CAn anyone explain to me how can a varifocal contact lense work?? I hate my glasses and went to specsavers to ask for contacts, I had the test, and they said I was suitable for them, they showed me how to put them in, then gave me contacts to try out. I had trouble with first set as I couldnt see far away!! went back, they changed them,, but same thing happened, couldnt see far away just a blur. I gave up in the end never went back. So how can a tiny contact lense let you see far and near?? I am baffled.. but would love to try again, as I hate wearing glasses. any advise thanks.

Varifocal contact lenses work on the principal that when you are looking at something close your pupil constricts. They are designed based on concentric circles. To be honest they don't work for a lot of people. Provided you don't have a lazy eye I personally found monovision contact lenses worked better for people ie one contact lens to correct your distance vision and one contact lens to correct your near vision.

    Hope this makes sense
