    Hi lads,

Can you settle an arguement for myself and a friend. He's saying that Paul McGrath made a mistake which lead to Packie Bonner getting lobbed for Ireland at some stage. He can't remember against who or when, but is adament it occured. I refute this. Is there any truth to this blasphemy?

Maybe there was, but the one I think of is the time McGrath made awful pass to Kevin Moran in 85 Cup Final which got Moran sent off..

    Can't think of Ireland one.

Could well be, but Phelan sprang to mind straight away for some reason.

It was the home qualifier in 93 against Denmark. He made up for it by getting the corner we equalised from.

Sounds awfully like Phelan vs Holland, that said Id guess most backs who played that many times will have screwed up and their keeper getting lobbed because of it at least once in their international careers

I met him once when Cork City played Waterford Utd at a LOI game. As an adult Ive never asked anyone for an autograph but hey it was Paul Mcgrath. I have to say he was the nicest celebrity or famous person (along with Brendan O'Reilly for those of you are really old whom I have ever met). A real gent.

On this theme, I always maintain that Donadoni's shot too a nick off Mick McCarrthy's back which put Bonner off balance his parry was poor and allowed Schillaci the tap in.

22 years, I can't let it go. Think Beautiful Mind.

I am still bitter about not being able to defend a corner which cost us a place in Euro 2000.

    It still bloody hurts.

    Incorrect.
I was behind that goal on the day and Bonner called for it to be left loud and clear.
Mcgrath should have left it after hearing the call.
Remember wondering all the way home how he couldn't hear the call it was that loud.

Dont think Ian Harte will ever be topped.

Altho shows what ireland fans are like compared to others. We didnt vilify him.
