Hey guys, I'm sure all of this has been answered before but please bear with me :)

Ok so I finished one year of a level 8 course in NUI Maynooth, but unfortunately it wasn't for me and I deregistered before the deadline in October just gone. So I know I have to pay full fees for my new course for first year. I took the first installment of my maintenance grant for second year too so I know I won't get that again.

Question 1: Is it possible to get the grant in first year, and then not get it in the final year? Things are really tight at the minute and I need all the help I can get right now.

Question 2: My parents are unable to support me financially whatsoever, is it possible to list myself as independent in next year's grant form?

I'm fairly sure the answer to both is no.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
