    Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with using the Steinberg Ci1 audio interface? I am looking to record basic vocals and guitar maybe adding a few sounds afterwards, I bought the Steinberg ci1 and tbh i am finding it difficult to use, It comes with Sequel LE which basically operates like a glorified Audacity....

Just wondering if it is necessary/worthwhile to purchase Cubase along with this software? and and if anyone has any mic recommendations for this software they would be greatly appreciated as my current mic does not fit! : /

do you have a usb mic or something? any xlr enabled mic will work with your interface, but you cant go wrong with an sm58 http://www.thomann.de/ie/shure_sm58.htm or an akg perception 120 http://www.thomann.de/ie/akg_perception_120.htm they're good quality all rounder mics.

you shouldn't need to purchase cubase, though the ''LE'' editions that you get bundled with hardware is usually rubbish. try downloading reaper http://www.reaper.fm/index.php it's got a full featured 30 day trial, and the software is €40. it's powerful, and easy to set up with an interface.

    Thanks a million for that,

yes the mic i was going to use fits straight into the computer. aka the lead is the same size as headphones. Thinking of getting a Shure Sm 58, have heard it is good, just hope it will work with this interface!!

Think if I had my time back I would go for protools, but will defo give reaper a try first. Hopefully will be able to create a good sound! Thanks

no worries, i'd say definately give reaper a go first. some say it can out perform protools, and at about €400 less! yeah, the sm58 will defo fit your interface, you just need to buy an XLR lead with the mic. they're around €4 on thomann, or €15 in your local music shop.
