Howdy. I know 2 people struggling to get decent broadband for online PS3/XBOX gaming. For both, DSL is not an option. So I was wondering if anybody has had good experiences with a 3G dongle with WiFi and a PS3/Xbox. I know for alot of people that's a bad option (due to coverage) but I'd like to know if it's even plausible.

One of the guys is in Lohunda, Dublin 15 and D15 generally has good 3G coverage - Ive suggested he look into Digiweb 1st thoguh.

The other guy is on the Dublin Rd near Sutton and has DSL with a max speed of 1Mb even when testing with the modem outside the house where the line comes in (to rule out internal factors).

So any good news stories would be welcom :)

Mate I fell into the trap of buying a 3 wireless modem on an 18 month contract, terrible idea, dog slow speeds although they bost 21.6 mps and assure you in store it never drops far from that speed,,yeah right,, today is day 14 of my cooling off period and ive just finished mailing a stinker to 3 to get the bal rolling on getting away from this contract,so my advise would be "dont go near 3" for internet,, online gaming, impossible to enjoy a game of Fifa

3g has bad latency. Even when it's working perfectly you will have 100ms added to ping. It's also unreliable and can drop packets etc. A very poor substitute for dsl.
