Mortgage Interest Supplement

Hi there. Im a carer <snip> and I also work 15 hours per week.
    I took a mortgage of 140k 2 years ago <Snip>.
I am finding it increasingly difficult to manage financially and am applying
    for mortgage interest subsidy.
I wonder if anyone can tell me, approximately, what criteria I would have to meet to be eligible for this payment.
I tried looking at the Social Welfare site and couldnt figure out if I was entitled to it or not.
Id love to find out if Ive any chance of getting it before I go looking for all the paperwork they are looking for.
Why cant they make the systems more people friendly?
Has anyone out there any idea and what the payment would be.,i.ie that is would it be a % of the interest paid or what?
Any information greatly appreciated. Thanks all x

it's usually worked out on the interest. Easiest thing to do is go and see the CWO

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I'd suggest going to see the community welfare officer too.
It's calculated with interest, sw payment, average wage and other things, so best thing is to go see the cwo and they will work it out for you!
