Alternative to enviromesh

Hi - I've been pricing up enviromesh for the allotment. For things like carrots, strawberries, brassicas. I want to build a frame or maybe a mini-hoop tunnel over raised beds. Enviromesh is so expensive so I've been thinking up some alternatives and wanted to know if anyone has seen these other materials used before.
I have plenty of builder's netting. Concern would be that it might shade the plants too much.
I also saw these net curtains in Ikea which are dead cheap ...

Obviously they would not be as good as the real thing but 30 odd euros for a few square metres is out of my budget. Any thoughts appreciated.

    Thanks!
