Possibly pump timing. It has an adjustable pulley and could be out a tiny bit. I have seen it happen to a berlingo a couple of times. Not something to take on yourself though.

The 1.6hdi's are common rail so the pump is'nt timed...I'd second an egr problem.....It maybe worth giving it a cleaning.
To be sure your better off getting it hooked up to diagnostic equip and read any fault codes (if any)

Not recommened for modern diesels........Just say your engine is suffering from poor oil pressure...The first thing that will fail is your turbo (around 800-1000euro fitted) then it may take out your cam chain which connects your camshafts as the tensioner relies on oil pressure to keep
tension on the chain...if this happens your better off fitting a good s/h engine.....Its up to yourself....

Not sure you can clean the EGR in them, They are electronic based ??
And nearly impossible to get second hand - too expensive new
Ive fitted a blanking plate (10 euro delivered) to my fathers one and its Hunky Dory since.

I had this issue with my 1 series.

Rough start on cold mornings with a blue-ish colour smoke and rough idle for several minutes.
Turned out it was 2 of the glowplugs that needed replacing.

Had the EGR cleaned as well but found people on a few BMW forums who had the same symptoms and glowplugs were their issue too.

I'd 2nd corkthai on blanking the egr valve as cleaning may not always sort the problem....Glow plugs usually flag a p1351 fault in the ecu so its worth scanning it for faults before you go pulling the engine apart..:)

Is it easy to blank the EGR on the 1.4 hdi engine. My C3 started running rough and losing power. Turbo was ok, engine would rev to 4k in neutral.

Fairly handy although egr is down the back iirc. The plate is slotted so just loosen off the valve enough to slide it in.

Hows is your car running with the egr blanked off. Can you do the NCT with it or does anything else need to be changed?
