do you take milk in your coffee?

I brew/ pour over my coffee. I always added milk and sugar. I buy a lot of coffee - mostly from Badger and Dodo, and just received the starter kit from Has Bean.

Since going to black coffee its a lot different - the citrus, pomegranate, wine flavours etc that people talk about really come through. Also though you can mostly taste the caffeine.

Its a bit tougher on the stomach too.

    How do you have yours?

Rarely have milk or sugar anymore, just straight espresso.
If I'm buying a cup from a random cafe though, I'll probably add milk and/or sugar because the actual coffee in most places is dire.

I've gone back to having milk. Tried it black for a week. worth trying but a bit too acidic for me. The Has Bean coffee is very acidic btw. Badger and Dodo do a wider range variety - which is every bit as good.

Has Bean offer a fairly wide range of coffee's to suit most people's taste.

If you're around the city 3FE have a nice ethopian from has bean at the moment sidamo borena or the rwanda kigoma. I think both might be closer to what you're looking for.

ntlbell there's more than 1 city in Ireland ; )

I'm based in the other one so I see Brock most weeks anyway - just said I'd try Hasbean to see if it matched the hype/ marketing.

    That's why I said "if" ;)

Not sure about the hype and marketing but regardless of who you are you can't please everyone although it seems Steve et al do their best to try.

It's just one mans taste buds ;)

If another roaster/seller satisfies yours then go with that.

touche...I grew up in the 3rd one so I think I can can be tongue in cheek about it...

cheers for suggestions ntlbell. I like what Hasbean are doing - Steve clearly has passion (also has my dream job). They do a great job on the marketing - with the blog etc though - trips to Bolivia, in my mug, iphone app etc., Hasbeans marketing really is something else. Not to detract from any of it - great to see all these small roasters doing well.

I'm guessing that SouthernStar's Hasbean reference is partly inspired by the constant recommendations Steve gets in this forum. He seems like a genuinely decent and passionate coffee guy (have bought from Hasbean myself) but at times it can seem a little excessive that coffee newbies are being directed to get their beans from abroad when there are many local roasters offering a broad range of excellent and freshly roasted coffee.
I often buy from Brock also, and he's constantly buying in new and excellent speciality coffees. People can easily find other (smaller) roasters locally, and there's a strong argument to be made with buying local when it comes to coffee. It would be different if there was no decent offering available besides Hasbean, but that's just not the case.
Re original question - drink it black:)

Gotta say that Badger and Dodo haven't really lived up to the expectations set by some of the UK and US roasters for me. I'd love to say otherwise, and it might have just been bad luck on the choices I made, but there you go. YMMV.

I'm more of a tea person than a coffee person, but I do take milk in my coffee - I don't like it too strong. No sugar, though.

    50/50 coffee and warm milk.

I fill my french press and warm the same amount of milk and mix together with some Xylitol (Sugar substitute) in a big bowel type mug.

    Milk - Yes

Sugar - No, unless it's instant coffee.
