There is a job im looking at applying for, im a bit hesitant now though as i have never worked this way before basically they sent me the T's & C's when i applied here is the part im unsure about:

"You will be engaged under a contract for services in that you will be a self employed individual. You will be responsible for your own VAT, PAYE and all taxation issues"

Ive never worked like that before and i would not have a clue how i manage my own vat and tax n all that.... But im also wondering would it screw me over money wise?

Its basically a pet sitter/ Walker job where you go to clients house.. so alot of driving around aswell but i don't know what to think of it now because of the whole managing your own tax thing

Firstly, what you're looking at is not a job, it's a self-employment opportunity.

Money wise, you're not going to get rich on that kind of work. And I'd be really impressed if you earned enough to have to worry about VAT.

You need to be aware of the effects of self-employment on your eligibility for welfare: if you lose the job, you aren't able to claim job-seekers-benefit. You may get job-seekers-allowance - but you need to produce company accounts for them, and prove why the business is no longer viable.

You might like to go to www.Revenue.ie and read up about being self employed.

Screw that so... not going to risk it... I don't understand why for such a small simple service that they run things like that... Il stick to my JSB for now even though it sucks!
