06 Citroen Picasso indicators - bug or feature?

This is a really stupid question but I can't find the answer anywhere else... I drove an 06 Citroen Picasso but when I indicated in either direction, the dashboard showed both indicators at the same time (as if hazards were on).

Can I take it this is not some new-fangled equal rights unisex attitude to direction indication and is actually a problem?

Please don't mock me ;), I've been driving a 95 Golf since I learnt to drive and this was like driving a spaceship in comparison :D

Is it a Xsara Picaso or a C4 Picaso?

Sorry, it's a Xsara Picasso - didn't realise the C4s went back that far.

Far as I remember, isn't it just a square light with both < and > arrows on it?

I'm driving an 02 Punto and both come on when I indicate. Never actually thought to check to see if it was a fault. The indicators work fine.

    Punto's supposed to do that.

Two green flashing arrows < > come up on the, I suppose, black electronic display of the dashboard.

Colour me corrected if this is normal. I think I would find it difficult not knowing what turn the driver intended to take if I was the passenger. I know you would generally know from road position etc. in most contexts but not always... maybe I would get over it.

If you're not driving what does it matter?

If we get lost, I'll also be lost, regardless of whether I'm driving or not!

Sorry - and perhaps this truly is unfathomable for some people - but I share a lot of the driving with my other half. If we're driving somewhere unfamiliar, which is frequently enough, the passenger normally does a bit of navigation. If you've never directed someone when they're driving, it's very useful to know that they've heard and are following your instructions, especially when you have other distractions like kids etc. going on.

In short, it's information I'm used to having and I don't see any reason for removing it. It would be like if my speedometer suddenly only told me I was doing "high/low 40s" or "high/low 50s".

Surely youd know if you've just pushed the indicator stalk up or down though?

Yes absolutely, when you're the driver it's not a big deal. I will sometimes be the passenger in the car though.

I appreciate this doesn't bother anyone else!
