    Hi,
Does anyone know anyone/anyplace that will do a good job on putting band names on flightcases. I do it myself but my previous attempt was crap.
    Any help?
    Derek

Type up what you want in word or whatever text program you prefer and use a stencil font. Print it out on A4 or A3 if you can. Use a stanley knife and carefully cut it out. Tape it down and spray. Et voila!

Yeh, just spend a bit of time on the stencil. There's no places that will do it for you, bands roadies would usually do it.

This is the least rock and roll thread of all time.

I just grabbed a piece of cardboard and drew out what I wanted and hacked it out with a scissors. I found spraying it when it was flat was best so it didn't drip.

Never use a spray paint is the secret.

Having stenciled thousand of flight cases in the past the secret is to use a fine roller or sponge. Whichever you use load it VERY VERY sparingly, have a old news paper or peice of plywood or something to roll or dab off excess, when you think you havn't enough on there for it to work you will have about the right amount. Then GENTLY roll/dab the stencil over and over again, if you have too much paint or press too hard it will spead out under the stencil. Doing it this way you get very sharp letters.

Also check your spelling having sent out cases with Cliff Richards with the extra 's' and Rod Stewert with an 'e' !

Nothing wrong with spray paint as long as it's s good quality paint going onto a clean surface. You also need to understand how to use spray paint correctly. Simple but often over looked.
Preparation is key to a good final piece.

On a personal note, I'd go with. Light dusting of a White paint if your case is black. Anything else, I feel, looks tacky.
I also prefare to use Lino to stencil with, I tried loads of different materials and for me, it's easy to cut, holds it's shape and is reusable. (I may or may not have realised this during my graffiti years.)
