Ya was up there yesterday for a fitting and henry said the same thing a great asset to the place. That fitting centre is unbelievable couldnt believe the information that is available.
Played practise round on the monty for a tournament next month found it nice with great greens but extremely tough lengthwise.

ya do need to hit a long ball up there alright, good size landing areas though. the greens are super at the moment & have been for a good while.

    good luck next month

Can any of you guys tell me what the courses are like in carton house this time of year??? Are they reasonably good under foot? Honestly

Chatting to a guy that played the monty course recently, he said it was immaculate. He couldn't speak highly enough of it.

A bunch of us travelling from Lahinch, some are interested in Druids glen but I was there last feb and it was very quiet mid week! Might be more to do around the maynooth area, 8 women all very keen golfers, would you recommend playing both courses or would it be a good idea to nip up to killeen dunshaughlin for second round??

Id play both, they are completely different courses, the monty is more linksy with loads of deep bunkers with the O Meara being parkland. Both are a good round of golf with the Monty being tougher but the O Meara being more scenic. The stretch of 14 to 17 on the O Meara is beautiful.

How good are your group, on average?
The Monty is pretty savage and if you get stuck out there on a wet windy day, hitting from bunker to bunker isnt the most fun in the world....

range from 8 to 15, i heard there was a lot of bunkers, but we are lahinch members so can deal with the bunkers but not wet under foot! but im sure the place is well drained?

Can't vouch for the Monty at this time of year but played in during the summer. Lovely course in great condition then. Lot of bunkers alright and Monty probably designed it with himself in mind. Having said that there is plenty of room to avoid them. The fairway bunkers are deeper than most courses greenside ones. Some of the greenside ones are as deep as any in Lahinch. Prevailing wind seems to be very much diagonally across the way most of the holes run. You'll enjoy.

When I played the Montgomerie I felt that it was designed specially for left to right players. Anyone who plays with a draw(right-handed) was on the back foot a lot of the time. Am playing the O'Meara in the next month and heard that it was less biased?

We have only one lefty! She will be delighted. We will prob play both courses, I have heard nothing bad about the courses. Thanks for all replys

There is 8 of us in a hotel and golf deal, 8 people at €350 for 3 nights b&b 2 evening meals and 2 rounds of golf! Fota island gave me same deal but priced everything separate and the golf was €40 per round, so maybe that's a price to go by.

Ha now you know how i feel on most courses being a lefty, just feels a lot of the tee boxes are even set up for righties

Havnt played lahinch but have played doonbeg the bunkers on the monty are huge compared to some of doonbegs. Found it tough and Long played ok but couldn't manage some of the bunkers you could bury elephants in them. Enjoy!
