Folks, has anyone done this one before? Anyone doing it this year?

What's the course profile like - am looking to run a hilly HM as prep for Boston.

It ain't cheap but it's on at the right time...

Will be doing this as a warm-up for London.

Haven't done a half in ages so hoping to make a fairly spectacular impact on my PB (97 mins from Achill about 5 years ago). Ran 20k yesterday in 90 mins so the omens are good :D

Doing this as a warmup for Paris :)

Damn, we are so exotic here

Well Paris is probably marginally more exotic than London (depending on you definition of exotic I guess :))

What's the consensus for pacing for these type of warm up races? Are you planning to go at this hammer & thongs? Or waddle about at 75%?

Wouldn't be aiming to go flat out at HM PB pace - somewhere between that and PMP I suppose.

Anyone driving to this from Galway (or indeed Dublin I guess?)

Was supposed to be doing weekend away in galway that weekend but it's fallen thru? So I don't know how I will get down there now?

So I need to get a lift or write it off to experience I assume..

Sorry lad - am driving from Cork that morning - no use to you.

Have you tried contacting the organisers? It's a small event so they might be able to help you.

Have a chat with Kevin (in Amphibian King Ballymount) as he may be travelling down. Alternatively I'll be going from Oranmore and can offer you a lift if you can get this far.

Well worth making the effort to get down, it is a great run.

Good luck tomorrow lads. High mileage has pranged my left calf in a bad way so I can't make it. Can't run at all for the next ten days or so I'd say. Hope it's not longer or Boston will suffer.

    Go for it!

    Pros:
Good value, especially considering the tech tee, lucozade, jelly beans :D
Challenging course, not as flat as the profile appeared, nothing seriously tough, but more than I was expecting
    Great atmosphere.

    Cons:
The start, I have never in my life seen a rolling start before. The tape was a good idea, but they didn't move us up and stop, they just said go as we approached the line without holding people in place first.

Nice to get out and do a race, it's been months since I actually raced, and while I hurt badly at points, I badly needed to get back in to a few races.
    Roll on Craughwell and Connemara.
