Right I get bad headaches a lot. I have been taking Syndol for them for years but they have been taken off the market for some months now, when this came to light I did a round of chemists in towns around me and stocked up on what they had. I ran out before Christmas, a friend gave me something she brought back from the States, they worked OK but I can't keep using her supply so I have been using Solpadene they are OK but not great has anyone any suggestions that might work.

Not Nurofen they make me sick

I know we're technically not supposed to give advice here but you definitely have TB.

Heroin is the only cure I'm afraid.

Stay off the drink, your hungover.

See a doctor persistant headaches can be a symptom of other things, he may find the cause and give you the right treatment.

Two paracetamol for me work wonders with oncoming migraines, it doesn't stop the 'flashing' weird eyesight thing but once that stops I don't get the headache!

My epidural went wrong when I was having my Son and I had crippling headaches for weeks after.. Best thing I found was simply Panadol Max.. the saches..

    They're great imho..

Get checked out to see what is giving you headaches instead of just chugging painkillers.

Be careful with solpadeine it can become addictive. Your best bet is to see your GP if the headaches are persistent.

See a GP and deal with whatever is causing them before your head explodes at an inconvenient time. I carry prescription migraine medicine (Imigran) with me at all times for exactly this reason.

Wish my doctor could find out what causes mine! I've been getting migranes since I was twelve. I was put on prescription painkillers (Ixprim) in December but don't seem to be working....two weekends since xmas I've been vomiting from migranes. Fcuking things!

As someone already recommended, see a doctor if headaches persist. There might be something more serious as the underlying cause.:)

In the meantime, one thing that has worked for me with migraine-type headaches - albeit not very bad ones - was rubbing Tiger Balm, which I suppose you can find in Ireland if you look hard enough, on both temples and just relaxing to let the pain abate.

So you get regular bad headaches and you haven't gone to a doctor? Go to one. Over the counter medications will lose effectiveness on you over time and will fail to address whatever underlying issue is causing your headaches in the first place.

    Some people...

You know one of the side effects of codeine withdrawal is bad headaches? I'd go see a decent GP if I was you.

I had meningitis in 97 and the headaches are linked to that according to the doctors I have seen.

Yes I wear both glasses and contact lenses

Sadly medical advice (especially involving drugs, etc) cannot be given on boards.ie for legal liability reasons alone.
We can only really say the usual, that being "see a doctor".
Yea, I know... Advice as useful as an ashtray on the back of a motorbike. Sorry.
