Clothing and footwear for South-East Asia?

I'm going to be traveling to South-East Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, and Singapore) for a month in July of this year and would like to get some advice on the right kind of clothing and foot wear I should be bringing with me (for trekking as well as general tourism).

I'm planning on taking my Berghaus 35+8 backpack with me, I think it may be a bit small to get the job done? But I don't want to be dragging too much baggage around with me.

Any Advice on clothing and footwear would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Jon

That does sound a bit small of a bag. One thing to remember in Asia is that, generally speaking, you'll be able to get your clothes cleaned/dried/ironed very cheaply so you don't need to bring as much clothing as elsewhere, plus depending on your size (if you're not extra large) you should be able to pick up clothes cheaply whilst there.

If you could get some kind of a hiking/sandal hybrid that would be best footwear wise (plus some runners). Clothing just make sure it's pure cotton and you'll be ok.

Bag size sounds fine to me - the smaller the better imo. For trekking I think you should be looking to bring a pair of lightweight trekking shoes, not hefty boots. Other than that, a pair of flip flops, a few T shirts and some shorts and that's all you need. As above, if you find you don't have enough you can easily pick it up along the way.
