Would anybody have an idea of a Jewellers in Dublin or anywhere close that would cover a yellow gold ring with a white gold ring. I have found one in Co Clare who will but getting there is awkward so would anyone know of anywhere closer that would do it? I am using my mothers wedding ring but need it to be white gold. I was told dipping wouldn't work but would be willing to give it a try if I knew where to start?

    Thanks

I'm no expert but white gold is just rhodium plated gold so any jeweler should be able to do it. Rhodium plating is standard enough for anyone with a white gold ring every year or 2.

Not exactly correct. White gold is white due to the addition of nickel to the mixture .

That said what the op wants as you have pointed out is the ring to be rhodium plated will make it look like white gold and pretty much any jeweler can do that.

Like the sound of that. Thanks. I (stupidly) thought jewellery shops just sold jewellery. Didn't realise I could go to any to make me something. Sounds like what I thought was a hard job on the list just got a lot easier. Thanks all

18kt white gold is 75% yellow gold and 25% alloys, the alloys make the ring whitish and then rhodium plating will make it completely white. Generally with white gold my advice is go for a ring with a high palladium content, that will result in rhodium plating approx. every 18months.

If you rhodium plate a yellow gold ring, the yellow will start becoming visible after a couple of months.
