Does anyone know what the NG stands for? I have seen it on descriptions for 2009 models and have seen VVT-i on older models. Are these 2 different class of engines. I tried reference toyota's website but only details seem to be given on the new 2012 model.

It usually stands for Next Generation, but in Toyota's case it probably stands for Nuclear Glow.

OP, NG stands for New Generation. All Yaris petrol engines are VVTi.

The Yaris got a mild facelift in mid 2010 where it received some cosmetic improvements which your average person would not spot. This is probably what the seller is getting in their advert.

NG on Toyotas is new generation, if it's a facelift, its MC (minor change)

    so NG=new
    MC - old
