    Hi all,

    Been getting back into running.

Have had no problems with my runners before I got back.

Since I have started running again I am getting a blister on the arch of my right foot.

It wore a tiny hole through my sock which are the same as before.

I know there are reasons for blisters but I dont know why they have just started.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I could be stating the obvious here.

I had that problem about a year ago and the simple solution was to buy new running shoes. If you're out running most days a pair should last you no more than 6-9 months in my experience. The shape of your feet also changes over time so i'd say you need to break in a decent new pair.

How did you choose your runners? How old are they? In my experience the best way to buy runners is to go to a shop that does video gait analysis. They'll be able to show you how much you're moving in all of the different types of runners.

The downside to the shops that do the gait analysis is that in Ireland they have very limited selection and the salespeople have a tendency of steering you towards whatever brands they have in stock that closely match your needs rather than ones that meet them. I'd get the analysis off them and buy nothing until you do your own research. Although I've found it particularly easy to walk away from them empty handed as they never have a size 13. Brands like Brooks and Mizuno are hard to come by here, my particular favourite shoe (Brooks Ravenna2) is impossible to get here in any shop.

It is an awful lot of effort for something that you run in puddles though but knowing you shoes before getting an analysis can assure you a bit more if your buying off these guys.

The Ravenna 2 has been updated by Brooks to the 3 series and is no longer available. Its not a shoe that we normally stock as it sits in a middle ground very close to the Brooks Trance on the support side and the Brooks Ghost on the neutral cushioning.

The Ravenna would be directly comparable with the Mizuno Inspire 8 or we it can be ordered in for you by most stores stocking Brooks shoes.

    HTH.

Just to say that that hasn't been my experience. I use the same shop in Bray - in fact even though I live in Bournemouth I make a point of getting my shoes in Bray whenever I can because they've always had whatever I wanted to try and I trust their analysis.

I've an abnormally large foot and end up getting shoes in the states, it can take weeks to get a size 13 or 14 here. Its not so much that I find the shops here are bad its just the lack of selection they have compared to where I get them in the US. I definatley wouldn't trust them in Elvery's anyway

I've bought both Brooks and Mizuno in Amphibian king, if they're the brands you're looking for
