    Hi all.
My first post here Just a General question.
Put the Reg of my sisters car in to motorcheck.
She have this car about a year BMW 02 320i petrol. Very happy with it.

Head gasket went today. My question is.
    It stated on motorcheck.
There is 25 items of information on this car.

The 35 euro for motorcheck, i think its going to be put towards the engine.
25 items, like what would i be told. Last thing i want to hear is
A This car dose 60 miles to the gallon
B 0 to 60 in 8 seconds and so on. Is it just the history of the car, number of owners. Would it be well worth the money to find out. Love to hear from some one that have used motorcheck. Thanks again

Its on the home page of motorcheck.ie

The check gives answers to all the above questions. Well worth it before the purchase of the car. Might not be of much use now.

No it was just motorcheck i was interested in.
Handy to use for the future.

As u mentioned the head gasket. The car driving perfect.
No sign of anything a miss. Temp normal. Parked that night
Following morning no start. Hissing sound when turning over.

I think its a timing chain in that car, not belt not sure though.
Would u have any idea of cost to do head gasket.
    What else might need doing
Money worry now for my sister

Motorcheck is very handy, I've used it a few times over the last few months and it stopped me buying an absolute lemon - cat c write off that the seller wasn't willing to disclose.

It could be an airflow meter fault, they can cause non-start when the fail. If you can disconnect it and try to start the car, that'll prove if it's at fault. As for the hissing, I don't know what could be. Those cars do have timing chains.

A failing head gasket shouldn't cause a sudden non-start without obvious signs of poor running prior to it happening - you should get it checked out by someone with relevant diagnostic equipment, it could be something very simple.

    Hi all
    Good news for my sister.
Not the head gasket as we thought.

It is the Coil Pack that is the problem now.
Is this item expensive, what price range approx.

    Thanks
