Why not use OpenOffice? It's free and has the same functionality - word processor, spreadsheet, presentations etc.

    LibreOffice is another free alternative.

60 Euro may sound good when compared to Office's retail price, but it's still an expensive software when compared to open source offerings.

I just came across this a few minutes and consider it a very good deal.

    Microsoft Office 2010 for €59.95

To avail of it though, I think you MUST be a student, but read the T&C.

I hope it is of use to someone out there.

That price is pretty much a constant.

I got this 15 months ago while I was finishing off my thesis - my original 1 year trial of Office 2007 (free with my Samsung netbook) was running out and I was panicing - I really HAD to have Word in all its glory, and OneNote was vital too.

Getting the full professional editions of everything (incl Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher etc.) was just brilliant.

No problems getting it - they didn't even need a third-level institution email address.
Oh - and don't forget the price applies to academics, and parents or family of ANYONE in education (any level of education) - basically they are happy enough to let it go cheap if you are NOT using it for business. I guess Microsoft know students will steal it anyway if the price is much higher.

Windows 7 (as an upgrade) is only €45 or so too.
