I have to say, some posters' attitudes on here towards Kidney stink. Sure he is a conservative guy but you would think at this stage people would trust him enough to know what he's doing. Yes, the backs lack penetration but that is because of the lack of a decent backs coach. The players also have to take responsibility for this. Whatever happened to playing what's in front of you. The way some go on here you'd think our backline need to be spoon fed.The man has a GS and two Heineken cups under his belt for Christ's sake. How is it when the national side underperform the finger is immediately pointed at him, yet when they pull of a well played victory it's down to the players. It's gotten to the stage where people are even questioning his role in attaining the slam and H cups (See thread on Kidneys judgement of players). Then there is the moaning about the squad. If people can come on here and criticise P Wallace, saying he has had enough chances at this stage then what of Fitzgerald. He has 23 caps and only 2 tries. I don't care what anyone says, that is a pathetic record for an international winger. Has he not had enough chances at this stage? The snide comments are both childish and incredibly ungracious and unfortunately indicative of the pervading football mentality within the game nowadays.

    Rant over.

While I cant agree with everything the OP wrote, but I agree with the sentiment and posted already in the squad thread on this. Some of the stuff on here the last while is disgraceful..and really not in the spirit of the game we're supposed to love..
Its a like a bad soccerball forum tbh.

Look at how Ireland play and look at how Leinster play. We were finishing 3-2 and scraping past Italy in the 6 Nations, while Leinster were dominating the best teams in Europe. We should be doing better than we are.

Saying it is a pathetic record for an international winger is not being snide, it is merely stating a fact. A wingers main priority is to score tries and a strike rate of one in eleven is awful no matter how you try and gloss it. However the constant "Uncle Deccie does it again" and comments of that ilk are indeed both childish and ungrateful.

You were suggesting it was ridiculous to call for Fitzgerald to go in the 6 Nations squad. Have you not been watching rugby this year?

I can't wait to see the back of him. He's as interesting as a lampshade and is far too conservative. HC and GS? So what? It's been 3 years and the teams progress has stagnated. We need someone who can take this team to the next level.

Kidney gets stick for his failure to pick players on form. Ireland are playing some dreadful stuff under Kidney and 2011 was a very poor year for Ireland bar the World Cup.

He deserves criticism because the Irish team have gone backwards since we won the 6 Nations. Are we not allowed to criticise our head coach? A lot of it is valid. The Kidney apologists are worse if anything.

"Unfortunately indicative of the pervading football mentality within the game nowadays". Get off your high horse please.

I never said Fitzgerald should not be included in the squad. I merely asked why it is nobody questions the amount of chances he has been given at this stage. Yes he has played well this season but so has Wallace (Plus Wallace plays in the centre, an area we are not exactly flush in at the moment, unlike the back three). If people are going to criticise Kidney for constantly giving Wallace chances but turn a blind eye when it is done for Fitzgerald then that seems a bit like hypocrisy to me.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHRRLFOLOL... I just snotted myself.

Anyhow, my opinion is really I don't HATE Kidney, but I don't think he's made a good long-term coach. Since the GS Ireland have not preformed. Infact, even during the GS we weren't great. The only decent game we've had was against England in last years 6n's.

I'll give credit where credit is due. The morale in the squad pre-GS was terrible, and there was an obvious divide between the Munster and Leinster players that they all admitted to. Kidney came in with a soft touch and the squad pulled together.

But even now apparently ROG rolls his eyes every time he makes a speech to the squad. The squad don't buy his stuff anymore, and I'm not even sure he's even still selling it. The IRFU shouldn't have extended his contract.

He's an okay coach for 8-man rugby, but we can't win games like that anymore.

Truthfully there is no need for yet another kidney thread so I'm closing this off
