Mobile causing laptop interference

Recently bought this laptop in PC World. All fine but one evening when my phone received a text message (it was close to the laptop) the screen went all multi coloured lines. The only thing that got rid of this was to hold down the on/off button. I figured it was interference from the mobile, Samsung confirmed it. Leaving my mobile a few meters away is not always practical. I have never experienced this with any of the other makes of laptops I have owned. Samsung have stated that damage would be permanent and would not be covered under the warranty . I paid €600 of the laptop but feel like I've been had. Also, the paint on the pointer buttons is bubbling and seems to be about to peel off.

    Anyone else come across this?

Never came across this and googling has no easy fix other than wrapping phone in Tinfoil:rolleyes:

Get on to the PC World Forum, Laptop not fit for purpose.

_AVALANCHE_ would you regard the laptop as being not fit for purpose? if i need to connect my mobile to the laptop to remove data or access the internet i'm going to run into this problem again. Samsung say that there is not fault with the laptop.

Yes, I'd expect abit of sound interference through the speakers but not what your're experiencing. Something is not shielded right.

If you have it less than 21 days (which is PC Worlds limit on no quibble replacement) then go straight down and demand a new Laptop.

If more than 21 then Consumer Issues would be a good Forum to start a Thread to find out exactly what your rights are and then get Thread moved to Currys Forum. Just don't mention where you bought it untill you want it moved.

_AVALANCHE_, I have a new tread up in the consumer section. How do i get it moved to the Curry's tread?

Click on the Report Post button down in the bottom left corner of your first post in that Thread and then in the comment section ask one of the Mods will they move it to the Currys Forum for you as that's where you bought it.

Or you could just ask in the Thread for it to be moved but the Mods will see it quicker if you report it.

    Or do both.
