first time posting here so Hello all, also I hope this is the right place to put htis thread, if not im sure the mods will move it.
Anyways I recently bought a new radio and after tuning the stations and setting the clock, etc. I had to go off, when i turned off the engine and turned it back on to go home all my settings where erased, i checked the manual and it says one of the connectors is wrong/loose. so i took out the radio and made sure they were all in correctly and they are. Now there is a blue cable included in the aftermarket wire bundle, could this be something that connects the radio to the car properly so it doesnt wipe it's memory?

It;s a Peugeot 206 and the radio is a sony CDX gt25, like this one

any helps would be appreciated, thanks

Allright im one of the fitters in carrigmines. There is a simple way to fix your problem. Take the Raido out and get the red and yellow wires and flip them. Ie. there is bullet connectors on these wires. This will sort out you problem. The Raido should beep 3 times once the key has been taken out. This will only work on 206 from 99 up to 01 years if you have a car after 01 you will have to get a feed from the cig lighter and bring it to the red wire on the Raido wiring loom. Hope this helps you.

I'll try that thanks, kind of strange that it only works for 99-01. when you say it only keeps for 3 times, do you mean that after turning off the engine etc three time, the setting will be re set again?

Sorry I ment beeps 3 times when you take the key out. From 01 onwards there is a CAN system in the car. What year is your car??????

Then you have a CAN system in your car. If you swop the red and yellow around you will notice that the Raido stays on for about 2mins after the key has been removed. this is not good for the car as its using a positive CAN signal wire to switch on the Raido. It can cause problems down the line with clocks and Central locking. If you lift the gear gater the wire for the cig lighter is there on the cig lighter I can't remember the color of the f
Wire for the positive but the earth is green and yellow get a wire from the positive side and bring it to the red wire on the Raido. It may sound a bit of a job but it's easy to do.

sounds confusing :P good thing my dad is good with this sort of stuff. well the central locking isn't working atm anyways, needs a new computer or something like that, but the part about the radio staying on i can definitely understand.
I'll try all the above mate, thanks again

No bother any probs swing up to the shop and I can help you out. Just one more thing make sure the wire from the cig lighter going up to the Raido is only connected to the red wire comming from the head unit. Don't splice into the wire
