Broken Canon 400D

Long time since I've been on this forum! I bought a 400D a few years back and I'm ashamed to say that since it was damaged on holidays about a year and a half ago, I haven't touched it.

Anyway, something (a hair product) spilt on it while i was travelling it damaged it. Photos come out all grainy and LCD screen also damaged.
My question is whether this is likely to be something that could be fixed and if so, where should I go to get this done? Is it worth sending it to Canon?

Prob cheaper just to buy a new enrty level camera. The 550d runs about €500. Repairs would prob run to a few hundred or thereabouts.

To be honest there wouldn't be many Techs that would repair something damaged with liquid especially so long after the damage is done as after the repair, unless everything touched by liquid was replaced some other component could fail and the camera would come back to them.

If the sensor alone was just damaged then it would be more costly to replace than to buy a whole new second hand 400D but if the back also needs to be replaced then it would definitely be cheaper to just replace and would cause less problems.

To offset the cost of replacement you could auction it on ebay (clearly stating what it wrong) as there is a pretty good demand for faulty cameras and lenses so you could get possibly >€100 selling it there where people are looking for parts etc...
