    Hi all,
Just a quick note to say that the Rebels will be hosting another top class Superbowl party in the city centre this year. I had hoped to make an announcement over the weekend but we're still waiting to finalise things with the venue (it's not Dandelion this year). I CAN confirm the following:
    • It'll be in a top venue in Dublin city centre
    • There'll be all sorts of promotions, music, entertainment and hijinks on the night
    • There'll be some free drink and food
    • It's a ticket-only event - I'll post a link for purchasing tickets when everything's finalised. Tickets will probably be about €10
    • We'll be running an exclusive promotion for boardsies who purchase tickets online - something like a free beer + hot dog + entry into a boards-only raffle for tickets to ND-Navy in Sept (again, not confirmed, but it'll be something like this)
    • It'll stay open until the end of the game
    • It'll be even more awesome than previous years!
I'll post again when everything's confirmed.

    Cheers,
    Andy D (Lothaar)

Yeah, I know what was on the FB page. I'm officially representing the Rebels here. As I said, the venue hasn't been confirmed yet. I can't say more for the moment - it's not necessarily Sinotts.

BTW, I just heard that the planned RDS party was cancelled.

Whoo! Shameless plug for ours being the BIGGEST Superbowl party in Dublin!

Will it be over 21's ? Wherever it is ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 228 ✭✭Lothaar v2

    That'll depend on the venue.

hopefully won't get turned away at the door this year!

it was great 2 years ago though :)

This is outrageous; shameless advertising at its unscrupulous best...

What kind of moderation goes on on this board?

    (P.S. will there be hotdogs?)

One of the big reasons we're going ticket-only this year is to avoid turning people away if the venue reaches capacity. If you've got a ticket, you're definitely getting in.

Now, if you were turned away for being a drunken mong, there's nothing we can do to help you :)

Neil - I really hope there'll be hot-dogs. We're trying to sort something.

Just a reminder - I'll be running a special boards.ie promotion for boardsies and their friends/families that purchase tickets online. I'll give a special promo code once everything's sorted. Should be some good prizes - we have some tickets for the ND-Navy game that we plan to put up for grabs. Again, details to be confirmed... but watch this space :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 228 ✭✭Lothaar v2

Right - I can confirm the party is in Capitol Bar. Still some details to be finalised - promos and stuff - which I'll announce here when they are.

Tickets are €10 a pop. To avail of the special boards.ie promotion, simply enter 'Andy Dennehy' in the field marked 'Which Dublin Rebels player referred you to this site', about two screens into the purchase flow. Any issues, let me know.

At the moment, I can't confirm the specifics of the boards.ie promotion. I'll update it when I can - probably today. It'll be decent, though, and will definitely include ND-Navy tickets.

Here's the official(ish) PR spiel. Again, still some details to be confirmed, so it's a little vague:

Dublin Rebels Launch Super Bowl Party 2012

The Dublin Rebels launched ticket sales to their exclusive 2012 Super Bowl Party. The current Irish Champions have partnered with Capitol (18/19 Lower Stephen's Street, Dublin 2) to host this year's premier Super Bowl event.
Building on the tremendous success of previous Super Bowl event nights, this year's event is set to be the biggest and best yet. A record number of attendees will be treated to a variety of surprises, including table-top dance routines from our cheerleaders, drink and food promotions and a variety of games and spot prizes throughout the night. Capitol Lounge will undergo a transformation into the ultimate American Sports Bar, with NFL apparel and a variety of screens, ensuring the game can be seen from any vantage point.
Fully kitted members of the seven-time Shamrock Bowl Champions, The Dublin Rebels, will be onsite for some perfect photo opportunities.
This ticket-only event has limited places, so early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Thanks Andy, any (public) reason you can give for the switch away from Dandelion?

I doubt Capitol will be able to hold near as many.. and i dont think the cheerleaders will be able to dance on the bar :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 228 ✭✭Lothaar v2

Simple: we're no longer sponsored by Dandelion and we're now sponsored/affiliated with Capitol.

We should be able to fit a good few into Capitol. Bear in mind that we only used the downstairs part of Dandelion for the past couple of years. With Capitol, we can get that sports bar feel, with screens everywhere and a variety of viewing spaces. Dando was good... I think we'll make Capitol better.

And those cheerleaders are extremely flexible. You'd be surprised where they can dance ;)

Mods: could one of you please change the title of this thread to 'Dublin Rebels Superbowl Party (in Capitol)'? A few people have contacted us, having seen this thread... but thought it was in Dandelion.

    UPDATE

Boards.ie Promotion - purchase a ticket online, entering 'Andy Dennehy' into the field marked 'Which Dublin Rebels player referred you?', and you'll be automatically entered into a special raffle for two free tickets to Notre Dame v Navy in September.

We're planning to add a few other bits and bobs too, but nothing's finalised.

Also, it's actually €10.75 per ticket, including the handling fee. Sorry, I didn't know about that when I originally posted.

Finally, there was a meeting with Capitol this evening to discuss arrangements for the event. The main thing is that the plan is to create a sports bar feel to take advantage of the layout of the venue. We'll have two floors, meaning we can create a few different types of viewing areas - like, one big 'cinematic' area and loads and loads of smaller pockets spread about the place.

Ticket sales have been going well so far. Should be a great atmosphere. :)

Great to hear Andy keep up the good work.

    Any idea on max capacity??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 228 ✭✭Lothaar v2

The official, fire prevention max-capacity is 700 or so. We're looking for more like 500 so it's not uncomfortably packed. I'd love to end up with a good, sports bar environment with a humming party atmosphere. That's the idea, anyway :)

Another update - probably the most exciting yet!

I can confirm that there will indeed be hot dogs. :)

whats the story with last orders for drinks? woud it not be soon after the thing kicks off or do all these superbowl parties have a special license.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,040 ✭✭✭McG

To the best of my (limited) knowledge of licensing law, I don't think there is such thing as a licence allowing you to stay open until the end of the Superbowl, no matter what time. Bear in mind that the Niners-Giants game ran until almost 4am. That kicked off around the same time as the Superbowl (but was a very long game by anyone's standards). So, in my official capacity as official representative of the Dublin Rebels and, by official extension, Capitol - I can't officially guarantee that drinks will be served right up to the end.

That said, Capitol does have a late licence and, unless the game goes into double-overtime, I can't see anyone sitting there on the dry!

Or just buy a boat load of pints when the bar is closing :)

    +1 on that:D

Quick update to let you know what's been happening.

We're still sorting out the final details but I can confirm that the following drinks promos will be running on the night:

    €5 for all cocktails
€5 for any spirit plus mixer
€10 for three bottles of beer

That's on top of the boards.ie promotional offer (when you enter 'Andy Dennehy' as the player that referred you), which includes entry into a draw for two tickets to ND-Navy in Sept... along with some goodies (I'm hoping to sort out beer+hot dog for boardsies!). Not bad for a tenner!

Just a reminder that this Superbowl party is organised by the Dublin Rebels - we're all huge football fans and we're organising a party FOR football fans! So, we're doing everything we can to provide the right atmosphere and setup for the perfect Superbowl night :)

    Will there be pitchers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 228 ✭✭Lothaar v2

Good question! I just got confirmation on more promotions for the night:

Pitchers of Beer (3pts) for €10

First 250 attendees receive Bottle of Bud and Hotdog.

Now... don't delay - buy a ticket today! Ok? Hear what I say!

Just bought 2 tickets for myself and mrs chuck787. Both looking forward to it :)
Just a quick one though, on the ticket page it says "neat dress essential." Can we wear our NFL jerseys or would we risk refusal if we do?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 228 ✭✭Lothaar v2

You'll be grand with the jerseys. I think the definition of 'neat' changes with the event that's on. Football jerseys are definitely acceptable on Superbowl night!

It's going to be an awesome night... I'm getting excited about it now.

BTW - tickets have sold really well... there are still a limited amount left and, depending on sales over the next two days, there might be a few left at the door on the night. Please ensure to buy tickets online if you want to nail down entry.

    They accept Laser online

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 228 ✭✭Lothaar v2

Yes - there are still a few tickets left, which can be purchased at the door. Get there early to ensure you get a spot. Doors open at 7pm and the first 250 people to arrive get a free bottle of bud and a hot dog.

I know it's really, really late... but I'd like to thank everyone who came out for our Superbowl party. It was a great night, with a nice atmosphere and a really good game!

If anyone has any feedback or comments on the event itself, feel free to PM me about it. I'd like to know what we did right/wrong to help us improve things for next year.

    Cheers,
    Andy
