Chain reaction Royal Mail delivery

    HI all,

Has anyone experienced any delays in receiving stuff from Chain Reaction via standard delivery?

Dispatched 9th January (placed order on 29th December but that's another story) and still no sign of it as of today.

Rang them up and they said they have to give Royal Mail 15 working days to deliver so nothing can be done until 27th Jan!

Has anyone been waiting similar periods recently?

Ordered a few things Sunday. Arrived yesterday. Happy out.

Yeah I've found it can be patchy. Maybe try your local post office and see if you missed the delivery?

I once ordered a seatpost that took over a month to arrive, they sent another one seeing as the other was apparently gone, then it appeared the next day plus I got the extra seatpost too. Weird.

Could be just as much Royal Mail's fault..

I got it sent to work (large organisation) so no chance they would have missed delivery. Have ordered and received 3 packages from Wiggle in the same time - I find their standard delivery much better

Yeh Wiggle's bog standard delivery is very quick by comparison. Staggering really, seeing as it doesn't have to cross any water to get here from CRC.

I think its down to who actually deals with the order there.....ive had quick delivery.....slow delivery.......i've got stuff delivered and have found the goods despatched link still saying pending......or it could be that their just got too big and are losing their standards and customer focus.:D

Not that impressed with Wiggle. Selected free postage option, and then they defaulted to adding an extra fiver for priority order processing, which I declined. This is akin to Ryanair tactics of adding a tenner for priority boarding, basically trying to fleece you without providing any additional value at every opportunity. Stuff ordered last week has just been marked as processed today, so I'm guessing it'll arrive sometime next week, which is grand but the idea of priority processing just irks me. Following on from this thread and the whole buying locally thing, I recon I'll try cyclesuperstore.ie next time around if they're reasonably competitive on price, which they seem to be.

Price-wise I find Bike24.com to be ahead of the posse at the moment, and have found them pretty good in terms of delivery. (1 week to 10 days from date of order). Though they also do have some ridiculously overpriced tat....

Me too, I placed two orders with CRC recently, one dispatched on Jan 4th and the other on Jan 5th. The first order arrived within a couple of days. I'm still waiting for the second order.

They sent me the 15 working days email. Not impressed but it's probably the fault of royal mail.

it all depends on the size of the order, small stuff gets sent by royal mail
which would you believe gets sent to england to be sorted then sent back
over here!the bigger bulky orders get sent by GLS and usually arrives in 3
    or so days i find

GLS are awful if you don't live in a town. Twice they were two lazy to deliver to the house and returned it to the depot until I gave a manager a bollocking on the phone.

Ordered a new light & shackle lock along with few spare tubes late last Tuesday night.
Emailed to tell me they were dispatched at 6:30am yesterday morning and were delivered this afternoon.
Can't fault the level of service I've received from CRC with de 1/2 dozen or so orders I've placed with them over de last year. Very impressed with them.

 That could explain a bit

Just seen this thread and am in the same boat as a few on here. Order was dispatched 10th of this month and still no sign of it. Ten working days and counting. Emailed and got the '15 working days before anything can be done' spiel. Emailed with a bit more insistence there now and am awaiting a reply. Did any of the folks here who's packages got delayed get them in the end, and if so how long did it take? Waiting on a pair of bib tights and it'll be Summer by the time their here at this rate.

Two days ago I ordered a Thomson Elite Layback Seatpost worth €73.
Today I receive a Truvativ T20 Seatpost worth €24

I emailed them just there, hopefully they'll sort it out, if not I'll be getting on to Paypal Resolution Center.

Ordered some tyres for the kids bikes from them last week, for once the CRC price and range was way better than Bike24. Three days later and a big black bag arrives rather than the usual box, which I thought was pretty speedy for free delivery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,810 ✭✭✭skerry

I ordered stuff off them loads of times and usually have no problems. From what I gather Royal Mail are the issue, but having to allow up to 15 working days before a delayed delivery can be pursued is ridiculous.

And sure if people want an item/part quickly then a trip to the LBS is the best solution! :D

Though I have heard of a certain large mail order bike shop putting second hand and lower spec items in place of what the customer actually orders...

I ordered my first load of cycling gear off CRC last Thursday 23rd and also ordered a few bits from Wiggle, but mainly all my gear(helmet, shorts, jersey) from CRC.

I received my wiggle order today, but the CRC order still hasn't even processed. Which means although I've gotten my first road bike, I'm unable to go out for a spin as I've no gear at all to keep me going until the CRC order arrives.

If I'd known this prior I would have just purchased all the stuff on Wiggle and be done with it. Now I could end up waiting weeks to receive the CRC order

Today is the 11th working day since my CRC order was posted. Emailed a couple of times but they won't do anything until 15 working days have passed. I'm pretty confident the package is lost somewhere at this stage and some royal mail employee is prancing around at home in my nice new bib tights. Pretty pissed about the whole thing, ordered them cos I needed them at the time, now I'm €€€ down on the deal and still wearing the pair I wanted to replace. Not sure I'll be using them again in a hurry.

Very bad service! Did you get email saying it was despatched?

I've ordered over €300 worth of stuff so if mine goes awol ill be raging.

Ordered from CRC for the the first time last week. I placed three different orders two on Monday, one in the morning and one in the afternoon and one order on Tuesday afternoon.

The first order to arrive was the one I placed on Monday afternoon which arrived by post early Friday afternoon (about 96 hours). The order I placed on Tuesday afternoon arrived late Friday afternoon by courier (about 74 hours). The very first order I placed last Monday morning was only despatched today, a week later, it now 177 hours since the order was placed. Everything I ordered was in stock.

I would describe CRC’s service as ok. I recently ordered an item from the Music Store in Cologne, Germany. I placed the order just before noon on a Monday and had the goods at 9.30 am on Thursday. From Cologne to Cavan in about 70 hours, compared to this CRC are very slow.

Having said all that I got much better service than some people who have posted here and I will deal with them again.

Got an email saying it was dispatched Friday 10th February, no sign of it and not expecting it before the 15 days is up either. Bought two bikes off them in the last two years plus a load of other bits and pieces too, pretty peeved about the whole situation now. Website says "Fast and reliable delivery throughout the world using mainly the national postal and courier networks" for Free Standard Delivery. If it had said "You may have to wait the bones of a month to get what you paid us for" then I would've taken my business elsewhere.

I ve had a few deliveries late also in the last few months. My view is, they have got too big now and forget how they actually won customers over in the first place, keep doing it and they,ll be knocked off their perch because they ll probably find out they have,nt a monopoly on mail order, customer service comes first every time.

There must be alot of variability on this. I placed my official order last Thursday lunchtime and it arrived to my home this morning. Very pleased.

I placed my unofficial order last friday which I hope will be delivered to my office tomorrow. I will then carefully smuggle this into my home over the next few days.
