If you haven't been renting for 6 months already and you're not on Council's housing list then you will not get Rent Allowance at all.

Perhaps your GP or someone from a club you belong to?

Why not ask the CWO directly? They know exactly what they're looking for.

    This point is quite correct!

However, in exceptional circumstances the SCWO (now AP) can authorise a RS where the above criteria are not compiled with.

This may be what your CWO (HEO) is trying to assist you with...i.e. establishing your 'exceptional need'.

You will also qualify if you have been homeless for 6 months & registered with the Homeless Unit.

The State strongly discourages young unemployed people living at home from leaving via the RS avenue!

Hence the reduced rate Jobseeker's Allowance & the difficulty in qualifying for RS.

If you can get on the Local Authority housing list (highly unlikely) you may get a RS!

    Best of luck!
