First of all stop thinking of it as a question and answer session, it's not!

It is about establishing a relationship with the person on the other side of the table! You do that by showing them you are interested in them and their company - there is nothing as off putting as interviewing someone only to discover that they have not got a clue about your company, even worse confuse it with another firm! So do your home work, learn all you can about the firm right down to it's social calendar!

The other thing to remember is that you want make sure that they know about your good points, so make a mental list of all the points you want to make and don't leave the room until you have done so!

Now when to comes to the actual question, the idea is to not only answer the question, but do it in such what that you demonstrate a knowledge of their firm, while painting yourself in the best light. Now it does take a bit of training but it also make the difference between you and the graduate with the plain vanilla answer. So take your time, don't feel rushed, consider your answer before you respond.

Also remember the politicians trick, answer the question you wanted them to ask and not the one they asked! So for example the question about "What is you're greatest fear..." I might answer by saying "Well I always try to carry out my tasks to the best of my ability, I hate to look back on something and think I could have done better"... Discussing your fears could lead to all kinds of weird and wonder things, so best to avoid the topic.

You'll find lots of sample questions on the net, if you google for them, the trick is to own the answers!
