Don't know anyone who has done that.

But I would be of the opinion that a 2 week course is a waste of money.

A 2 day course would be more like it. In reality you want enough info to allow you to be accepted based on your interview, the airline will then train you for 4-6 weeks their way. Any previous courses will not count once you have been accepted by the airline.

Not exactly my field of expertise as I am on the other side of the flight deck door, but from having spoken to flight attendants in my company I would be of the opinion that a two week course like this would be a waste of time compared to the two day'ers that can be done as if you do get a position with an airline you would be doing it all again.
At the end of the day it's your money but it is something to put on your cv.

Friend of mine did that course but found it an utter waste of time and money. The airlines just sniffed when she told them she'd done it.

Reminds me of the Airport Firefighter course that was being run at Galway Airport - apparently a waste of money.

Not totally true, Galway provided an excellent course to the same standard as the International Fire Trainng Centre. They also have a Eur 250,000 training rig to train on. Just one problem... they did not bother or could not get an Irish Aviation Authority stamp on the cert. Without the samp the cert the was only usable at Galway Airport or an Airport that decided to accept it.

If you wanted the experience then its an excellent course and if you were thinking about a Local Authority job it could be the only way to get firefighting exposure, understand your own endurance, working in smoke and confined spaces etc. Also the Breathing Apparatus cert is to EU standard.

If you think its going to guarantee an actual Airport Firefighter Job thats another story...

Thats the point I meant to make - people did this course with really zero prospect of a job at the end. According to firefighters on another forum the cert was not worth the paper it was printed on when it came to applying to a municipal fire service like DFB for example.

I have done the 2 week course at waterford airport and i found it brilliant. before the course i had been to interviews and been unsuccessful. The course really helped me with interview skills and as i had no experience which alot of the other girls at the interviews had it looked great on my CV. 3 weeks after the course I got a job with Etihad airways and will be moving to Abu Dhabi in the next few months. I would advise anyone to do the course as it covers passenger services, holiday rep and travel agents not only cabin crew.

I'm a former student of the International Acadamy of Travel and would highly recommend the two weeks course as i found it helped me getting through the interviews and the airline training course that followed .
I found work as cabin crew three weeks after doing the course as did eleven of my class mates with the same company .
Money very well spent if looking for a career in the airline industry .I've worked in the industry for years and always found my jobs through the acadamy :)

Fair play to both of ye for getting the jobs you wanted. However a 2 week course such as this is not needed to be successful in this role.

There are other 2 day course which cover the same topics. (interview technique, lifestyle of the career, aviation business knowledge) I would hazard a guess that ye both would have got these jobs if you had of done a 2 day course. Perhaps you just needed a bit of help in your interview technique?

Interesting that mollyharry says 12 in the course got jobs with the same airline. I wonder does that particular airline have affiliation to the course holders?

EDIT: I see the newly created accounts now.

'Jobs'? - so you've work in multple roles in the airline industry 'for years' and all of them were as a result of training you did with the academy?

Let's see, you originally worked as ground staff having trained with the academy, then you got laid off so you went back to the academy, did a cabin staff training course, got a job with an airline, then you worked for a few years, got laid off, then you went back to the academy, did a pilot's course and now you're a long haul captain with a major airline?

Is there a swimming test with the 2 week course in waterford airport? As i know to get a job with an airline you need to complete a swimming test to show you can thread water so im wondering is this included in the 2 week course?

Im closing this zombie thread. Its about a 2 week course to allow to apply for a career that doesnt need the 2 week course.
The airline you apply doesnt look for, or require this 2 week course
Anyone interesting can look at the more recent Aer Lingus/Ryanair Cabin Recruitment threads
