I was in a job from beginning of September to end of October last.. it was the most horrible place ive ever worked and i left :(

I left the same day i decided id had enough and went to my supervisor and asked if it was possible for me to finish that day as i didn't want to be there anymore, they said i would not get a reference i was fine with that... but im applying for a job i would love and don't want to mess up..... so... basically... should i put down on my CV that i worked there or not?

What if the employer im applying to wants a reference from there and i can get one? My last job that i was in for a long time was early last year... so if i left it out there would be a big gap :(

I didn't do anything bad at all in the last place just anything i did was never good enough and the people who worked there made me feel like crap i could never please them. :\

They cannot give you a bad reference, if you loose the job opportunity because of them you can claim loss of earnings.
Put it on and go for it, I wouldn't worry, good luck :)

I've never had one so this is kinda a guess,
A mate was applying for as job and like yourself needed several references, but one I know was a reference from a reputable person she never worked for, as she was short too. he basically vouched to say she's a decent person and would be a good addition to the team, it was through a personal and not working relationship, I guess the guy was high up and respected, so they accepted it, not sure what the position applied for was.

Could you get a reference from maybe another staff member, possibly someone high up? It will show initiative that you tried and didn't just leave it blank

I could get onto the HR dept and see what i get from them, I dealt with them for my interview there and also called them the day after i stopped working to make sure that they were aware of the situation and to thank them for the opportunity (did that so none of the supervisors in the shop could turn around and try to say i walked out without saying anything) .. but maybe from HR..

Or could i put it down on CV as most recent employer and not have a reference?

I could just get a reference from elsewhere

Ask HR sure if your turned down, which I think is unlikely, you can figure out something from there. May be best to ask them as a reference rather than someone below them, HR should know and respect the rules for references.

I've seen and heard people below HR purposely giving bad references so people wouldn't leave, you would ne surprised how pathetic people can be.

Edit: im surprised HR didn't ask why you left, im sure they want to know what the mood is on the floor, it could be possibly be seen as work place bullying and they are not acknowledging it,by not asking

Yea, I could email them and just basically check with the HR dept to see if they would be happy to give me a reference if someone gave them a call? I dont use written references i just let the potential employer call them

I don't think they cared too much, i didn't tell my supervisor that i had an issue with the other 2 supervisors as i didn't want her going back and saying anything to them.. they were really snidey in there.. I just said id be nice and say nothing and be nice to HR when i rang and leave it at that i just thanked them for the opportunity i did mention my reasons and HR girl was just like "yea, yea oh yea i know" lol.... and that was that

I say give it a try.

    It worked for me.

You dont have to be too honest with everything.

There is no way Id have that company on my CV,seen that they were W**kers, and you only been there a few weeks.

That is incorrect. You can be given a bad reference if it can be backed up.
