    from the horses mouth-

    http://www.aerlingus.com/travelinformation/knowbeforeyoufly/flightdisruptioninformation/

'Due to operational reasons flight EI 120 from Orlando to Dublin originally scheduled to arrive in Dublin at 08:35am Wednesday 18th January has had to divert to Gander, Newfoundland.'

    could mean anything really..

Does anyone know, just curious, how much money could this cost EI?

    A lo!

Gander airport charges, hotel for 250-260 people incl crew etc

I take it the plane will have used extra fuel and charges for landing and parking at Gander, or are these charges set aside in emergency situations such as this?

Another question why would the flight number change. It was EI121 and it's now EI2120?

I wonder is there a daily EI121 flight? So perhaps they need to have a different number.

Handling charges and De-icing charges I bet after being on the ground for over 11Hrs

EI121 is due to leave MCO again tonight (thurs).

EI121 leaves Dublin @ 12:30pm. Because the EI120 didn't arrive on schedule it's common practice to give it a new flight number.

One passenger had an asthma attack, flight was not going to divert during this passengers attack until a woman called crew to say her recently installed boob implants had burst. So they had to divert.

once diverting to a canadian airport en route, Im aware all bags post 9/11 have to be taken off and re scanned......this takes a while.....hence the crew hours issue I reckon.

That seems quite mad. If no bags are to be taken off then in theory no reason to scan them.

Well just from a quick look at flightaware.com. Seems the Departure time was nearly 2hours late from MCO. The diversion took nearly an hour to get onto ground in Gander. All this and delays on ground in Gander would have made crew hours very tight.
You also can't send pax off to hotel without there bags I guess.
