Set it up today! Used sardines as bait. I said I'd chance putting the tins under the cage closed to to the trigger plate as I reckoned they might press down on it trying to get the food. dunno if I'm right or wrong.

Just have to wait and see now.

I bought it from Mullinahone Co-op. It came in under E100 so not too bad, all things going well it should keep me busy over the summer. I might buy another one if this goes ok.

Its 120cm long, 40cm high, 33cm in width.

The doors are good and heavy so they fall fast & hard!

    looks heavy

Surprisingly its not that heavy. I carried it quiet comfortably up to where i set it up which would be a 8 or 10min walk up off the road.

What I am going to do though is make up too straps with clips on either end so I can carry it on my back like a rug sack.

Put a chain on it so it doesn't grow legs

A trail of food leading into it always helps. Youll prob catch more cats in it than anything as I do. Which Is no bad thing!
I usually cover the sides with a bit of greenery if I can & put bit of soil on the floor over the mesh.
Pin the cage using rods also so it can't be toppled which could lift your door
Bring the camera when you check it ;)

Its well hidden but I must get something to tie it down for future reference.

The top soil sounds like a good trick, I think I'll actually throw some of that in it in the morning.

    Thanks. S2K.

I take it's for foxes! Why are you using sardines as bait? Try some rabbit guts, road kill in a bucket with lid on with holes in the sides and bottom of bucket! Then tie bucket to roof of cage on inside! Works for me with old silver necklace!;)

Keep as much human smell as possible off it.IOW dont go slathering machine oil &C all over it.Get it out to where you want it and let it "cure" into the natural enviroment as much as possible before using.
