I am waiting for something that I need vitally - as soon as physically possible.
I bought off ebay on Monday - was told that it was mailed on Tuesday, 17th.
It's coming from Illford, Essex. They told me it was sent via R.M. First class. Realistically, what would be the average transit time for this?

I really need it badly - hence the question!

I've ordered numerous things from England.
Interestingly when they were sent by RM first class the local courier always varied between GLS or AnPost taking care of it (their expedited service equivalents been used).

Usually AnPost had the better track record of 1-2 days.
GLS was usually 2-3 days (surprising for GLS if you ever experienced their regular service).

I'd say if it was sent early Tuesday and RM didn't screw up then my rough estimates would be earliest Thursday, latest Friday. If something did go wrong I wouldn't put it past arriving next Monday.

If it was posted Tuesday I would expect it Friday or Monday. You mIght get lucky & get it tomorrow, I once had a package delivered standard air mail arrive next day from uk to Thailand.

Thanks all. I told them it was needed urgently - but they said that they had sent it on Tuesday. No sign of it this morning. I guess if it doesn't go beyond Monday, it's not so bad.

In future you could use airsure, which is still royal mail. They could have couriered it of course but its hassle for them to organise so they might refuse, and it might cost a lot.

I got concert tickets before on ebay and hte gig was very close to the buying date, he sent them airsure

I ordered a few things off eBay last Friday, which all shipped either Friday or Saturday. Only one has arrived yet, and that was today. Generally, it seems to take about 5 working days from the UK if sent by regular post. For registered post, or Airsure, it can be as quick as 3 days.

There's no way to know when anything in particular will arrive when it's not registered, and it could be over a week.

In hindsight - given how important it is to me - I guess I could have got the ebay seller to use airsure - but wasn't aware of this as an option.

Will have to resign myself to the fact that it my - as you say take 5 working days.
