separator.gifOk heres the low down! I need insurance soon, as i need transport to work and college! My father isnt too keen on getting me insured under him but it really is the cheapest way! Ive done quotes online and all im getting back is 1500,1600,2000!!! My dad already has insurance on his work car(taxi) but its possible for him to take my car and put it in his name.

1.Does anyone know of any insurance company that will give me a cheaper quote?

2.Which is the best way of a cheaper quote online or phone?

We cant get anything from aXa cause hes already with them!

Ive tryed brokers and insurance companies online but some arent coming back with a quote :/

One more thing i have tryed insurance on my own and the cheapest i got from one certain company is 1700 on my own but with third party insurance! Which isnt the best cover to be fair!

    Thanks for reading smile.gif

Do you have a qualified driver to sit in with you every time you need to use the car? If not you're looking at a court appearance and fines up to €2000.

No, if you're going to be the main driver of the vehicle, you need to be the policy holder. "Going under the parents insurance" when it's your car that you drive all the time is illegal (insurance fraud), and with your dad driving a taxi full time(?) that won't be hard for them to prove if they need to.

Unfortunately for you, ~2000 is a normal quote for a learner driver. In fact, if you got a quote for 1500 I'd jump at it.

Generally phone will be cheaper, but walking into an office will be cheaper again. You can't haggle with a website that automatically makes up quotes. You can with a person, on the phone or in real life.

You could also use the axa thing to your advantage. Talk to someone, see will they cut a deal because you already have a policy with them.

If you get TPFT, that's all you really need as a learner. Unless you're driving a car of substantial value (which you shouldn't be if you're learning) - then TPFT will do fine.

yeah walk into AXA and have a chat, start with my dad drives a taxi, we have a policy with you, I am going to need my own policy soon.....good luck it's tough starting off and everything seems well over priced. safe driving

Thanks for the replies lads. Advice taken into account! Can I get a insurance policy with axa even though my parents are with axa already? Axa is the cheapest I got under my mother and father fully comp 1100!
