    Hi Guys,

Need a bit of advice, and figured this is the best place for it :)

I am moving to Singapore soon, and obviously with the move there is a lot of expenses etc and i am tryng to hold onto as much money as possible.

Anywhooo, i have an Iphone 3GS here in Ireland, and instead of buying a phone when i land and spending more, if i got the phone unlocked here, would i be able to bring it with?? just buy a sim card in Singapore and away i go. Is it that easy?? Hardly!!

If you know if this is possible i would love to hear from you

    Thanks

That's it, just get onto the carrier who it's locked to, request the unlock, when you get a text to say the unlock has been approved, download carrier update by plugging into computer and opening iTunes

    Great! Thanks for the confirmation,

so i can request an unlock through the company i am with (O2), i dont have to go to some sort of specialist who unlocks phones??

Then update itunes on my computer, do you mean just download the latest version and hook up my Phone?

Sorry these qts are very stupid im sure, im not really any good with Tech :(

    Yes, ring O2 today.
Once your request with O2 has been approved (you get a text) you then connect the phone to the PC and start itunes, you can update to latest itunes version if you want but it shouldn't matter.
iTunes then verifies your phone with apple over the internet and unlocks it for you.
Once this is done the phone can be used with any carrier worldwide and will never have to be unlocked again.
