    Hi lads,

Looking to play a 3D bluray with the proper 3D on my new telly through my pc. Here's my equipment:

    PC: Windows 7
Video Card: ATI HD 4870 1gb connected to TV via HDMI
    Software: Powerdvd 11
    TV: Panasonic TX-P50UT30B
    3D Disc: Thor

I have everything pretty much set to auto detect but seems to be not working. The TV doesn't seem to be picking up a true 3D signal. Any ideas?

    Cheers

Check that you are using a HDMI 1.4 cable and not a 1.3.

    How would I tell?

I thought the cable didn't matter and that HDMI 1.4 only applied to the other equipment?

Check that you are using a HDMI 1.4 cable and not a 1.3.

The Cable has nothing to do with it , no special cable is needed for 3D , if you have working HDMI cables , they will do the job just fine.

There is no such thing as a HDMI 1.4 cable or HDMI 1.x anything cable , anytime you see those numbers printed on cables or cable packaging its an attempt at fraud , the idea is that you think its important for new equipment and you shell out good money for something you dont need.

This is the official site for HDMI , see the second paragraph on here ,

When it comes to selecting a cable, the HDMI version number is never relevant. There is no such thing as a “Version 1.4 cable” or “HDMI 1.3 cable” - these terms are solely the creation of manufacturers’ marketing efforts.

To get 3D Blu ray up and running on your PC , your going to need to upgrade the Graphics card on your PC , as far as I know , the 4 series is not compatible with 3d Blu ray , it may be compatible with some 3D games , but thats not the same thing at all.

    Thanks for that!

Any card you recommend? I was looking at the Radeon 6870. Is ATI better than Nvidia when it comes to 3D?
