Facebook typing slow

Got a Netbook a few weeks ago and while it's mostly amazing, it has a drawback when using Facebook: basically the typing is very slow. I'll type something in and there'll be a delay before it appears on the screen. This happens with every browser from Firefox to Google Chrome.

It doesn't really happen with other tools like Gmail or Boards. It only seems to happen with Facebook.
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix it?

Facebook search makes heavy usage of AJAX (JavaScript) which can run slow on slower machines. If it happens in all 3 browsers (IE, FF, GC) then I'd say that is the reason

How much RAM do you have installed in the computer? If you have only 1GB then adding another 1GB module should make a difference.

4gigs of RAM so I don't think the RAM is the problem.
Other specs are decent: Duel core AMD Radeon at 1.6Ghz

    Would updating Java help?

Updating Java won't make any difference, Facebook doesn't utilise it.

This one's a mystery to me. Your machine's spec is more than adequate. Something in the background slowing down the Javascript engine perhaps? Sorry, I know that isn't much use to you.

Hmm at that spec my advice isn't really as relevant, I assumed it being a netbook would have been 1 gig memory. Btw JavaScript and Java are totally seperate languages, its quite confusing but neither come close to being the same thing.
What anti virus/internet security are you using?

Using Spybot search and Destroy but the problems existed before I installed it.

Spybot is good for spyware, but have you got a firewall and/or anti virus on the machine as well?

With those specs FB should be ticking along nicely, assuming you don't have a huge number of tabs open in the likes of FF.

Have you any 'questionable' apps attached to your FB account? If you've anything there that you wouldn't be 100% sure on might be best to disable/remove until you've got to the bottom of the issue. Have you tried disabling some of the options like FB chat to see if that's part of the problem?

Do you use Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky etc? Also Spybot does have a resident protection thingy which could be conflicting, in fact I'd reccomend removing spybot completely as its not that great nowadays, the new version is very poor

Fair enough, would be willing to remove S+D if you have any suggestions for an alternative?

Norton and Mcafee are both terrible antivirus's, so i'd suggest keeping away from them.

Kaspersky is good, but costly, so i would reccomend Avast Free. Great little antivirus software. Much better than most of the paid for ones.

In answer to your question, check to see if your facebook is slow on other internet connections (not that it should matter.....but...just in case)

If you can, start your computer in safe mode with networking, and try again. If it's fine, then it's definitely software related.

If you havn't already, remove all the crapware that comes preinstalled on your computer.

worst case scenario, you could have a keylogger....thats really badly written, and causing a delay as it's recording keystrokes.

also, Safe mode + virus Scan + malware scan.

Got rid of spyboy but the problem persists. It's mad annyoing. I'll see how it goes in safemode but there's no delay using anything else like boards, just Facebook.
