    Hi,

I completed the CAT exams a few years ago and never took the plunge into the professionals until now.

Im from swords so I was wondering does anyone have any experience of IBAT College??

They have an offer of €2k for 4 exams which is a little tempting!

    Thanks

Ask them what their pass rates are for the modules you are interested in taking. Compare them to the global ACCA pass rates and those of other colleges that you would consider.

This is the only thing that really matters when considering where to study.

    Hi,

I've studied at IBAT, like you I thought the €2k for 4 subjects was excellent value and I signed up!

What a big mistake - I am completing my last 2 subjects under the €2k & come Aug/Sept I am switching to Griffith in Drogheda (I have four exams to complete for qualification).

The overall standard of lectures & scheduling does not measure up to the bigger colleges. I found F5, F6, F8 lectureres in IBAT to be very good - plenty practical experience/examples to explain the subjects but most importantly the exam focus was excellent - plenty practice, technique for answering questions etc.

F7 lecturerer so bad! No exam focus, question technique in fact he did not complete one exam question on the board - everything was done on Excel - talked his way through the answer! In fact the big question 'consolidated accounts' he didn't even go through the 7 step approach again Excel was used - couldn't follow! Opened the book & taught myself - complete waste of money & time attending his lectures. I attended the masterclass organised by DBS & gained more in 3hrs from the lecturer James Browne than a whole term with IBAT.

The F9 lecturer is brilliant but unfortunately the schedule of lectures is a complete farse - a couple of lectures - 4 week break - a couple more lectures & another 4 week break! I didn't sign up for home study ...

I could go on but I think you get my drift. The exams are hard enough without the added stress of having poor lecturers. If you are to succeed in this profession you need a good grounding & you won't get this from IBAT.

The other colleges charge a couple of hundred more e.g. €1,300 for 2 subjects but this includes books, take this into account your not saving much with IBAT.

Hope this has been of assistance to you.
