Can't get HD on cheap television

    Hey,

    I'm having a problem getting my ps3 to output in HD on a TV I picked up. It will only display through scart. When I have the HDMI cable in and nothing else I'm getting no signal on the TV even though I have the source set as HDMI. I brought the ps3 to the TV downstairs and it worked there but it won't work up here. I've tried resetting the display settings via the menu and by holding down the stand by button but nothing is working.

    Would it simply be the TV and PlayStation don't work together?

    Turn off your ps3 and then turn it on again but keep the on button pressed down until you hear a beep and the ps3 should change from the previous setting to detect the current setup and then accept the new hd input.

    EDIT: Apologies, didn't read the end of your first paragraph. Is your telly downstairs a HD telly too?

    It is. I actually brought the PS3 down, made sure it was on HD and brought it back up. I had no picture on either scart or hd so I reset the settings by holding down the power button and it was working on scart again. Very odd.

    Thanks, I never heard of that before. Is there a workaround that doesn't involve getting a new TV?

    EDIT: Did a bit of reading, It seems that there isn't. Damn you cheap TV :(
