Hello guys, I am in the process of looking into buying a entry level racing bike. I have been looking on donedeal.ie and other sites to see what options there are in the 2nd hand market. While looking today I came across this Viaggio race bike. According to the seller it was expensive new but he gives little other details. I tried to search Viaggio to find out something about the bike but can't find anything..... straight away this rings alarm bells but i just wondered whether anyone here might have an opinion or know something about these bikes. I suspect I would be better to avoid but just in case as the price is very low!

Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

I'd be surprised if that bike was much more expensive than the asking price.

    actually this is worth a look! :D > http://www.adverts.ie/bikes/new-road-bike/180280

You can buy them new for about 225euro, one of the guys in work did although he had to put it together him first, there was another guy on here (use the search forum tab) selling them new for about 300euro.

Do you want it for commuting or racing? Frame seemed grand but the brakes were not great.

Correction, the thread was removed cause it got a bit out of hand.

Try getting a decent one second hand, 280 is too much for that one second hand.

I was not planning on actually entering any races but I would like a bike which is purely for exercise! I find that cycling is one way I will always get out and get the heart pumping for a bit. Whatever the weather I can hop on the bike and stretch the legs.
I cycle a lot in terms of commuting between college/home/work (I'm a home-carer and don't drive) and have a cheapo MTB which does the job for the time being and I don't need to worry about it getting nicked too much. So thats fine but I'd just like to have a decent road bike to jump on a few of evenings a week and see what I can do. If I enjoy it I will upgrade in the future.
I did try and search the forum for "Viaggio" but couldn't find anything, I will try again.... Any info in regards to the Gears/shifters?
    Thanks for the info -F

It was RobBaxter selling them, I think.

Gears worked but they were unbranded, looked like cheap shimano stuff, they have worked fine for almost a year for the guy in the office. I had a quick spin and found them clunky and slightly awkward but still perfectly usable. If I remember correctly it was a 7 or 8 speed on the back. He did have to get one of the wheels replaced but I think that was more his fault than the wheels.
