    Taken from Thesandtrap.com

TMAG is calling this line the hottest name in golf and feel they couldn't have called it anything else. They are boasting HUGE distance gains, they can legally claim 17 yards increased distance with the fairway wood.

Right, time to bring the R11s back :pac:

Anyone know why the standard and TP R11 is still around 75 euros more expensive the the new standard and TP RBZ (rocketballz) driver.

Is this not to replace the R11???

And the TM advertising department goes into overdrive, biggest crock of ****e imo, always has been and always will be.

As far as I know the new Rocketballz is replacing the Burner, the R11 is being replaced by the R11S

Video is like a sketch from The Fast Show, with a dash of the tongue in cheek realism of some WWF.
Fair play to them for getting through their scripts with straight faces though even if they must feel like such whores.

Some of the stuff they spout.....What about this from Sean Toulon, Executive Vice President of TaylorMade - “To hold a RocketBallz metalwood in your hands is to possess confidence, power, speed and distance potential that will regularly and quite literally redefine the long game for golfers!”

    How exactly?

How much is a rocketballz driver?

About the same price you paid for the Burner and what you'll pay for the Rocketballz 2 next year.

Well I didn't buy any of them so I dunno :)

Golf goes rock and roll

Looks like the Taylor Made boys have been partying hard since the R11. (The first album).

You know the way it goes , one does coke, then the aerodynamic guy goes off with the testing gurus wife. Then the material guy has a breakdown from touring the new club, then the inevitable 2nd club problem and name problem. Then they party hard for the club release. In the end somebody gets hit with a Rocketballz head, as it flys off and hits the lead marketing guy, due to a drunk engineer "Sid" not designing the torque as it should be. Bloody Roadies. Party on.

Even the testing machine is exhausted with it all. No way "Rocketballz".

Taylor Made calm down , it is a ****ing golf club, not Pink Flyod back together at G8. Same story again and again from Taylor Made.

Listen to words, "can you tell an R11 from a RBallz, did they get you to trade.

You could not say RocketBallz then shank it.

I wouldn't read too much into the Driver marketing, it's pretty much a burner 2.0 with some adjustable crap. Usual crap...

But the 3 wood .. There could be something in it, 3 woods have lagged behind tech wise because of design constraints according to some of the info been reading on other sites. They might actually have made some genuine distance improvements ...

Must be something to it. It is just the name and in your face stuff that would do your head in. Must give it a wack at range. Can't see me paying near 200 quid for a 3w ? I use one about 2 or 3 times in a round. How much are they ?

Say they would have to invest a few bob in some club development, say he wouldn't piss on some TM clubs if they were on fire. :p

As for their irons, its a complete cod. Manufacturers should be forced to put the loft on the club. Check out the difference between the TM rocketballz and the titleist AP2's. "Yeah I can hit my 8 iron 160 yards, cos its really a 7!" The 8i TM is even 1 degree less than the AP2 7i

    TM AP2
    4 20° 24
    5 23° 27
    6 26° 31
    7 30° 35
    8 34° 39
    9 39° 43
    PW 44° 47

Just saw the new Rocketballz driver, 3 wood and irons both with standard shafts and heads and also the tour version with tp shafts and they look simply amazing. According to taylormade they nearly guarantee that an average player will gain 12 to 17 yards using the 3 wood alone. It realy loks like a players club compared to the burner superfast, and is also adjustable The adaptor is the same one used in r11 which is handy. What a club!

Well done for pointing this out. What is now considered a 4 iron by Taylormade would have resembled a 2 iron 15 years ago.

Also they are claiming a gain of 17 yards with the new RBZ 3 wood. I would like to point out that the loft of the new RBZ TP 3 wood is 13* (bordering on driver loft as people start to get sense and put lofts of 10-11 in their driver and the same as what has previously been called a 3+) the 5 wood is 14.5 (let's be honest, this is a 3 wood).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 652 ✭✭✭stringy

the TP version have those ridiculous low lofts, the normal version have standard lofts (on the fairway woods/metals)

    I don't know how they can call a 14.5* club a 5wood - ridiculous and misleading.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 161 ✭✭acejeff

The TP version of the new R11S 3 wood has a standard loft of 15.5*. So did the TP version of the burner 2.0 which the RBZ is replacing. The "17 Yards extra" claimed is presumably compared to either/both of these clubs. Explanation for this increase in distance, simple, 2.5 degress less loft will do it, at the expense of a decrease in control and accuracy (surely the primary objective of a fairway wood)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,317 ✭✭✭big_drive

Do they also claim the driver goes a further 17 yards? Or just the 3 wood

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,654 ✭✭✭celtic_oz

    330 yards with a 3 wood

    Great guarantee alright.:D
You gotta laugh at the simpletons being taken in by this kind of tosh. How far is it from fake advertising or fraud? (Some of the cash people handover probably goes to Taylormade's lawyers to make sure its just on the right side of legal).

I upgraded my driver recently have noticed an amazing improvement in distance. The club head is slightly bigger than standard but its worth it IMO...

Has a try of both rocket and R11S and trust me there is very little extra to the rocket....its just like the burner rebranded with a green bit to it.....
hit both of them really well...as brand new smoked all outta the middle that day....didnt go any further for me..had fairly high backspin rate too on lauch monitor.compared to others i use....which aint good!!!

I came across an old mid nineties Taylormade Burner 3 wood the other day .
    17 degrees loft.
The new Rocketballz 3 wood TP is 13 degrees,4 degrees stronger and the shaft is 2.5 inches longer.
    What a farce.

with every year the new driver adds 15 yards onto you drive.

Surprise we are not hitting par 5's off the tee.

Ive got the superfast 2.0 fairway wood which is my favorite club, gonna try out the rbz with the same shaft to see what way it stacks up, if its not better then il be stayin with my baby

    Exactly.

By way of real numbers, the average drive is bout 80-90 yards longer than it was 100 years ago.

According to the R&A head scientist, 1/3rd of this is down to the ball, 1/3rd down to the clubs and 1/3rd down to fitness.

That's 30 yards in 100 years because of the driver. That includes a change from hickory to steel shafts and wooden to titanium heads.

All the 10 yards added by equipment manufacturers add to about 800 yard drives. Marketing pure and simple.

What with all this Space Age technology, notice how the Marketers fail to mention where the ball will land. :D and focus just how far it will/can go.

"TM Rocketballz, bombs you 15 yards yards deeper and longer out of bounds"

No club can fix a faulty swing.
