Hi everyone, I called into the tax office in limerick about getting tax back that I was owed due to emergency tax for 2011 it's fine she said that they would send out a cheque when they had the relevant documents from my past and present employes the trouble is lying with tax that in owed from 2012 she said that my employer should give that back through my wages within the next few weeks ( I'm finished employment there on the 21st of jan) I said it to one of the managers and they said they have nothing got to do with issuing tax back. Im going to call into the tax office again but I was just wondering does anyone know what's going on and how I'll get the tax back?

Since you will finish before the new tax cert can sort the issue, you will be able to apply for the 2012 tax back from Revenue. You must wait for 4 weeks from the date you cease and send parts 2 and 3 of the P45 to Revenue along with a completed form P50.

Indeed. If you receive a payment from Dept of Social Protection, you'll need to wait 8 weeks. This is detailed on the claim form. Anyhow, with the backlogs in place, your probably beat just submitting your claim ASAP. Once your item comes up for processing, its likely the 8 weeks would have passed
