Hope somebody can help please. My husbands ex who he wasn't married to has just out of the blue forwarded documents for a Court date for "Removal of Guardianship from his son. We're dumbfounded from the point of view that the child stays with us on a regular basis, weekends, school half terms, etc. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Maintenance payments have never been missed.

You need a good family law solicitor. Fathers have very few rights in Ireland.

Unless the father is a danger to the child, then guardianship will not be taken way. But please do consult a family law specialist.

It will be decided whether or not to remove him as a guardian depending on the child's best interests. Get a good solicitor.
